The role

Full stack engineers help us build and run HSBC’s online banking services, moving away from the monolithic architectures of the past to a new microservices platform.  You will be part of a cross functional product team delivering features into production in ever shortening cycles and helping to drive the continuous improvement of our processes, tooling and engineering practices.

In this role, you will:

  • Be responsible for translating designs into robust, scalable and reusable solutions that deliver exceptional user experience driven by the product teams.
  • Use the latest UI, API and Mobile technologies, processes and tools to deliver frequently, safely and efficiently.
  • Work in an agile/scrum environment always looking to improve cadence and productivity whilst maintaining quality.
  • Get involved with the deployment and operation/support of the software we build.

Essential Skills & Experience

 To be successful in this role you should:

  • Have proven ability in one of the following languages and be familiar with at least one other (Java, Springboot, Javascript, NodeJs, React).
  • Have experience of development using automated testing tools and the principles and practices of BDD and TDD
  • Have experience of DevOps processes, Continuous Delivery and Continuous Integration.
  • Understand secure application development techniques and how to build robust and safe applications.
  • Have a strong understanding of agile methods of software delivery.


Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Building ‘mobile first’, responsive, adaptive and accessible (WCAG AA) single page applications and/or building RESTful APIs.
  • Solid awareness of cross-browser/device and cross platform development.
  • Configuring Application Monitoring tools such as AppDynamics and Splunk.
  • Consuming REST APIs and utilising JSON for web or mobile applications.
  • Experience supporting production / live customer applications.

This role is based in Leeds.
